UEV : European University of Volunteering

In 1991, the AVE created the VU to offer people, voluntary or not,, to NGOs, to public authorities, University students involved in volunteering. It allows remote exchanges an opportunity to meet and exchange on a current topic in the world of volunteering. Since 2008 the AVE with partners has developed the permanent VU which is based on information and communication techniques.

The UEV is roaming in EUROPE, it offers short academic sessions with courses taught by academics, thus ensuring rigor in its methods and scientific contributions of a good intellectual level.

HISTORICAL

It's in 1991 in Barcelona (Spain) under the chairmanship of Professor Albert COPPE (former Commissioner for Social Affairs at the European Community) and on the initiative of AVE volunteers that it was decided to launch the European University of Volunteering.

Of 1972 at 1991 AVE members from different European countries ensured, at any role in their respective country, Colloquia and Meetings bringing together active volunteers in different fields, thus allowing an inter-knowledge of the actions carried out in each Country and above all a better visibility of the world of volunteering both for the volunteers themselves, only for public authorities.

Until then, voluntary action in Europe was dealt with internally in associations or federations but was not a subject of public order.. AVE based on the example of the founders of the International Association for Volunteer Effort in the USA, was a pioneer in this field in Europe. This is how in 1979 the then European Community, asked him to participate in the organization of a first meeting in Brussels on Volunteering.

The creation of the VU in 1991 was a logical continuation for the AVE because it could ensure a good level of information , training and reflection for volunteers , and through the work provided give policy makers a reliable message on the role of volunteering in society
