Under the name of”European University of Volunteering (UEV)” an association is formed
of public utility, headquartered in Basel, in the sense of the arts. 60 ss of the Swiss Civil Code.
The EUV Association is apolitical, organized without religion, multicultural and, inspired by the
medieval; it's itinerant. It bases its activities on the ideas of the medieval itinerant university.,
thus offering university training on topics related to civil engagement and civil society
to volunteers and professionals working in the field of volunteering; this happens in
interdisciplinary conferences and seminars that take place at irregular intervals.
The Association was created in 1993 originally under the name European University of Service
voluntary (FREE), during a plenary session in Brussels of the European Association of
volunteers – A.V.E. (Association for Free Volunteering in Europe) in cooperation with
representatives of Belgian universities, from France, from Germany, from Italy and Spain. A.V.E.,
as a member of IAVE, played a particular role in promoting and qualifying volunteering
a Europe.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors represents the Association externally. The Council evaluates the
requests for implementation of a UEV event and decides on the transfer procedure to
local organizing institutions.
